Proposed Improvements

Sherman Field is one of Lincoln’s icons and these exciting plans are designed to celebrate field’s history while improving and preserving it for future generations.

Cost: $2.2 million project cost includes an endowment to take care of the field forever.

With its rich history, Sherman Field is a favorite venue for players, coaches, fans and sponsors. The playing field is in good condition and the grandstand was renovated in 1997.

However, the restroom, storage and maintenance buildings and other facilities need to be replaced in order to better serve park users and visitors, and to provide increased efficiencies in the operation and maintenance of the complex.

The Nebraska School Activities Association has committed to using Sherman Field to host state high school baseball tournament games through 2012. Improvements are necessary to continue to host this tournament and attract others, which have a positive impact on Lincoln’s economy.

Opportunity Knocks

The City of Lincoln has committed $500,000 for this project and the Lincoln Parks Foundation is leading a private fundraising campaign to leverage the City’s commitment and seek private donations to complete other improvements which will enhance the complex and preserve it for future generations.
